In fact, there is solid demand for paralegals. For a paralegal position, jobs are expected to grow by almost 20 percent for paralegals and legal assistants between 2010-2020 according to the United States Bureau of Labor and Statistics.

Further, whether or not to pursue an educational path to become a paralegal is entirely up to you. However, a degree in paralegal studies will certainly not hinder your ability to be hired as a paralegal, explains Leah Fischer.

Leah Fischer once enjoyed the chance to intern at the Department of Justice – particularly within the Appeals, Writs and Trials office of the DOJ San Francisco Criminal Division. Between February and August of 2014, Fischer worked directly with and under the Deputy Attorney General Karen Bovarnick, where she was responsible for research, drafting briefs, reading transcripts, taking notes and preparing presentations.
